Beach House comes alive with designer indoor furniture

in Interiors, Residential

19th Century Eastwell House is the oldest home on the block in this delightful coastal suburb on the Mornington Peninsula. Structural additions and inspired choices of the outdoor and indoor designer furniture throughout have brought this delightful home into a whole new light.

The architects Techne Architects and Interior Design were assigned the task of expanding the space, all while maintaining the original coastal vibe of the home. The result is a beachside oasis for the clients growing family. Considering the limitations of the existing home, Techne have extended the original building by adding two pavilions. Separate but together, the three structures have created a sculptural like quality to the home. The additions were inspired in shape, material and colouring by the older building with weatherboard on the outer of the structure creating seamless consistency.

The internal colour palette mirrors the coastal tones of warm whites and greys with subtle nautical references throughout.

The materials throughout the home are what you would expect from a coastal building, and provide the perfect backdrop for the designer indoor furniture that accentuates the location and the casual luxury of so many homes on the Mornington Peninsula. Finishes in timber veneer, white stone and concrete are unsurprising but used in conjunction with inspired choices in luxury home furniture, they truly pop.

"We envisioned a home that carefully responded to the junction of old and new."

Light, bright materials allow the light to flow through the home without effort, high ceilings add even more glowing spaces.

Full height glazing on the ground level and glass links between the three pavilions allows the natural light to stream through all the rooms and the dining room, in true Australian coastal style opens directly onto the deck.

The home is a perfect combination of a historical heritage space and modern design; creating the idyllic seaside home of our dreams.
