The Rainforest House Noosa | Designer Living & Bedroom Furniture

in Interiors, Residential

Australia is home to a wealth of land where majestic forests lie directly adjacent to beautiful coastlines. Noosa is one such place; and is the magical location of this gorgeous sanctuary by Mim Design.

One of a growing list of designers paying particular attention and respect to the surrounding natural landscape, Mim Design have created a residence within the rainforest that not only a design gem, but a true home and sanctuary as a shared holiday home on the Sunshine Coast.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this is an entirely new building, designed for modern times; however, this 1980’s structure has just had an incredible interior and exterior makeover. The exterior has been completely overhauled with black hardwood cladding covering the dated building and links the home visually with its forest surrounds. A boardwalk was constructed from the carpark to the front door and together with tropical landscaping either side it’s the perfect introduction to the home for anyone visiting.

The gorgeous holiday home was revamped to not only increase space but also to create a sanctuary that links the whole residence with the picturesque outdoors. Each room was reconfigured to make the most of the natural light, the rainforest views and also to create separate spaces within the home.

It's impossible not to notice the rainforest, the vibrant lush green is visible from every window. The kitchen splashback is a huge panel of glass looking out onto the forest; the living areas have been sealed with floor to ceiling glass doors, the balconies with glass barriers; the rainforest truly becomes part of the home.

"We wanted to create a 'journey' into and through the house, rather than revealing everything at once."

Once the reconfiguration was complete, styling the space came down to a simple, functional and nature inspired aesthetic. The greenery is complemented in true coastal style with limed-oak floorboards, white wall panels and charcoal limestone. The colour palette of the soft furnishings from the designer bedroom furniture to living room sofas focuses on navy, pale grey, neutral leathers and light timbers.

This is truly a sanctuary, a home away from home for the families who spend their downtime here. Secluded spaces abound, nooks in which to enjoy reading or some time alone, soft designer armchairs to recline in and luxury furniture of the homely, cosy variety. This home is sure to be the envy of many a holiday home owner.
